Compliance & Data Protection Manager 

Location: Kingdom Head Office, Newton-le-Willows 
Salary: Up to £50,000 per annum (dependent on experience) 
Hours: 40 hours per week 
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday 
Typical Hours: 09:00–17:00, or as required to meet the demands of the role

Kingdom is seeking an experienced and driven Compliance & Data Protection Manager to lead our Compliance Centre and safeguard the Group's compliance, accreditation, reputation and regulatory standing. 

This is a high-profile leadership role responsible for Data Protection, Governance, Risk, Health & Safety, ESG, Audits, Accreditations, Quality Management Systems and Compliance Assurance across the Group. 

You will be a trusted advisor to the business, driving continuous improvement, ensuring regulatory compliance and leading a culture where high standards are embedded into everything we do. 

 

Key Responsibilities 

Compliance & Governance 

  • Lead the Compliance Centre and deliver effective governance, assurance and compliance support across the Group. 

  • Develop, maintain and continuously improve policies, procedures and governance frameworks. 

  • Ensure compliance with company policies, regulatory requirements and industry standards. 

  • Monitor legislative and regulatory change, implementing updates where required. 

  • Provide accurate management information and compliance reporting to support business decision-making. 

Data Protection & GDPR 

  • Lead and maintain Group-wide GDPR compliance. 

  • Manage SARs, DPIAs, ROPA, data complaints and breach investigations. 

  • Act as the primary point of contact with the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO). 

  • Support Freedom of Information requests and provide expert data protection guidance. 

  • Promote best practice in data governance and privacy management. 

Health, Safety & Risk 

  • Maintain health and safety records, compliance registers and reporting requirements. 

  • Manage incident investigations, near misses and RIDDOR reporting. 

  • Review major incidents, support insurance claim investigations and coordinate corrective actions. 

  • Act as Designated First Aider and Fire Marshal. 

  • Oversee workplace safety compliance, fire safety arrangements, first aid provision and PAT testing. 

ESG, Audits & Quality Management 

  • Support ESG reporting, sustainability initiatives and maintain SustainIQ records. 

  • Lead external audits, accreditation renewals, certifications and compliance inspections. 

  • Manage relationships with auditors, certification bodies and external stakeholders. 

  • Maintain Quality Management Systems, ISO certifications and British Standard accreditations. 

  • Drive corrective and preventative actions through to successful completion. 

Facilities & Workplace Compliance 

  • Maintain company asset, vehicle and workplace compliance registers. 

  • Oversee facilities standards, maintenance activities and workplace compliance requirements. 

  • Coordinate key office compliance activities and support operational excellence across the Head Office environment. 

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Build, lead and develop a high-performing Compliance Centre team. 

  • Establish clear standards, responsibilities, KPIs and performance expectations. 

  • Conduct performance reviews, coach colleagues and address underperformance where required. 

  • Ensure colleagues meet mandatory training and competence requirements. 

  • Create a positive, inclusive culture that reflects Kingdom's CARE Values. 

 

Essential Experience 

  • Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar Compliance, Governance, Risk or Data Protection leadership role within a service-led organisation. 

  • Proven Compliance and Governance Management experience. 

  • Proven Team Leadership experience. 

  • Experience managing audits, accreditations and quality management systems. 

  • Experience interpreting legislation and implementing compliance frameworks. 

  • Strong background in risk management, investigations and assurance activities. 

 

Essential Qualifications 

  • GDPR / Data Protection Qualification 

  • NEBOSH General Certificate 

  • ISO Auditor Qualification 

  • First Aid at Work 

  • Fire Marshal Training 

  • Any additional role-relevant qualifications
