Salary: Up to £70,000 DOE
Location: Newton-Le-Willows WA12

Are you a technically strong, highly organised finance professional who thrives on accuracy and control?
We’re looking for a Financial Controller to take ownership of financial control, compliance, and reporting across our growing Group. This is a hands-on role for someone who prides themselves on discipline and precision, ensuring the numbers are always right.

You’ll lead on treasury, audit, statutory reporting, and balance sheet integrity from day one — bringing a meticulous approach to reconciliations, controls, and cash visibility. You’ll also work closely with senior stakeholders, external auditors, and banks, delivering accurate, timely results under pressure while helping improve processes and strengthen controls.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the external audit process and act as primary contact for auditors
  • Take responsibility for treasury, bank access control, and cash visibility
  • Ensure accurate and timely HMRC submissions (VAT, PAYE, CT)
  • Manage ONS/statutory returns and compliance deadlines
  • Maintain balance sheet integrity with strong reconciliations
  • Maintain and develop the fixed asset register
  • Support month-end with key reconciliations and data accuracy
  • Improve financial processes, controls, and reporting quality
  • Provide clear financial insights to the Finance Director
  • Track acquisition-related costs and goodwill
  • Act as a role model for financial discipline and professionalism

What We’re Looking For:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified
  • Strong understanding of UK GAAP / FRS 102
  • Proven experience leading external audits
  • Hands-on treasury and cash management experience
  • Solid understanding of HMRC submissions (VAT, PAYE, CT)
  • Advanced Excel and strong ERP/accounting system skills
  • Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
  • Confident communicator with strong stakeholder management
  • Process-driven, proactive, and able to challenge the status quo
  • Thrives in a fast-paced, service-led environment

Why Join Us?

  • Competitive salary up to £70,000 DOE
  • Opportunity to take ownership of financial control for a growing Group
  • Work closely with senior leadership and influence key decisions
  • Career development and progression opportunities
