Head of Business Systems

Location: National Support & Command Centre, Newton-le-Willows, with Group travel
Salary: Competitive Salary (Depending on Experience) + Benefits
Hours: Full Time, Monday to Friday 09:00 - 17:00 or to meet business needs.

About the Role

Kingdom is midway through a significant technology transformation, with concurrent programmes covering Business Intelligence, Workforce Management, Finance Systems, CRM, Automation and AI across five divisions.

We are seeking an experienced Head of Business Systems to take ownership of the Group's technology change portfolio from approval through to benefits realisation.

This is a newly created, hands-on role for an individual who can build the Group's delivery and PMO capability while actively using it to deliver successful business change. You will oversee multiple concurrent initiatives, establish governance and reporting frameworks, drive implementation programmes, and ensure technology investments deliver measurable business value.

Reporting directly to the Chief Technology Officer, you will work closely with divisional leaders, operational teams, suppliers and implementation partners to successfully deliver strategic technology projects across the Group.

Key Responsibilities

Portfolio Management

  • Build and maintain the Group portfolio baseline covering every live technology initiative.
  • Track project sponsors, committed spend, timelines, expected benefits and named benefit owners.
  • Produce portfolio-level reporting and dashboards for the Technology & Change Board.
  • Provide a single, accurate view of all technology initiatives and associated costs.
  • Monitor project performance and support informed business decision-making.

Delivery Management

  • Own delivery plans for all approved technology initiatives.
  • Establish, maintain and manage critical delivery paths.
  • Manage cross-programme dependencies and resource conflicts across divisions.
  • Drive implementation, testing, cutover and business readiness activities.
  • Ensure projects are delivered within agreed scope, budget and timescales.

Business Analysis

  • Document and analyse key divisional business processes.
  • Work directly with operational teams to understand current and future requirements.
  • Gather, define and manage business requirements.
  • Own data mapping and configuration decisions during implementations.
  • Develop, coordinate and execute user acceptance testing (UAT).
  • Support process improvement and adoption across the business.

Vendor & Partner Management

  • Manage relationships with software vendors and implementation partners.
  • Hold suppliers accountable for contracted commitments and deliverables.
  • Maintain the Group technology renewal calendar.
  • Ensure no technology contract renews without review and challenge.
  • Support commercial negotiations using delivery performance and evidence.

Governance & Change Control

  • Establish project baselines covering scope, budget, timelines and benefits.
  • Operate robust governance and change control processes.
  • Ensure material changes are escalated to the Technology & Change Board.
  • Prepare and present board papers and project updates.
  • Provide honest and early escalation of delivery risks and issues.

Benefits Realisation

  • Ensure every approved initiative has a named business benefit owner.
  • Establish measurable benefit baselines before implementation.
  • Track and evidence realised benefits following project delivery.
  • Measure outcomes against original business cases and objectives.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Demonstrable track record delivering end-to-end business systems implementations within a multi-site organisation.
  • Experience implementing ERP, Finance, HR, Workforce Management, CRM or Business Intelligence systems.
  • Proven experience managing several concurrent technology initiatives rather than a single large programme.
  • Experience building PMO and delivery capability from scratch without an established team or methodology.
  • Strong project delivery, planning and stakeholder management experience.
  • Ability to hold senior stakeholders and external suppliers accountable, including in challenging situations.
  • Commercially astute with the ability to quantify the cost of project delays.
  • Comfortable making recommendations to stop projects where investment can no longer be justified.
  • Excellent communication, influencing and relationship-building skills.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Ability to operate effectively across multiple business functions and divisions.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Working knowledge of Agile, Waterfall and Hybrid delivery methodologies, with the judgement to apply the most appropriate approach.
  • Hands-on business analysis experience including:
    • Process documentation
    • Requirements definition
    • Data mapping
    • User Acceptance Testing (UAT)
  • Ability to build credibility with both frontline operational teams and senior leadership.
  • Experience within Facilities Management, Security, Logistics, Healthcare or another operationally intensive, low-margin sector.
  • Experience supporting largely deployed and non-desk-based workforces.
  • Exposure to Microsoft Fabric, Sage Intacct, HubSpot or comparable business platforms.

What We Offer

  • Opportunity to lead and shape a major Group-wide technology transformation.
  • High-profile role with direct exposure to senior leadership and board-level decision making.
  • The chance to build and establish the Group's delivery and PMO framework.
  • Excellent career development opportunities within a growing national organisation.
  • Competitive salary and benefits package.
